Frequently Asked Questions
For Our Clients
Why choose Lighthouse?
With over 35 years of experience providing relief veterinarians to the Midwest, we strive to provide the best fit for your clinic.

We want you to take the time away from your clinic that you deserve or need and to rest assured your clients and staff will be well-taken care of.
How much will my relief day cost?
There are three components to our relief fee structure: the daily trip charge, an hourly rate, and a fee for weekends or short workdays.
While we do recommend up to a one hour unpaid lunch be provided for any shift over 5 hours, be aware that should a lunch break be taken this will result in an automatic 7 hour billing.
Additional fees apply for emergency work, relief on holidays, and for clinics located in more remote locations.
What if I need to change or cancel my scheduled relief shift?
Simply call the office as soon as possible to make us aware of the change. Cancellation fees, are assessed per day and are available in our policies.
My schedule says 'wait list.' What does that mean?
If you receive your schedule and the day you requested says 'wait-list' it means we currently do not have coverage for your day.
Your request will remain in the queue of requests for that day. If a doctor becomes available, we will send you an updated schedule for bookings outside of two weeks. For bookings within two weeks, we will call you to ensure you still need a doctor.
Can I request the same doctor for all of my relief days?
We are more than happy to make a note of the doctors you prefer. However, we cannot guarantee the same veterinarian for all relief coverage. This is due to the varying job descriptions and required days off for each of our relief doctors.
What is your billing policy?
Invoice periods end on the 15th and last day of the month with invoices being emailed within 10 days. Any invoice past due more than 30 days from the end of the invoice period accrues a 1.5% interest charge per month. Please mail checks to:
